I think people are taking what was said out of proportion and/or context. His line of thinking seems to be that people, including Hitler, aren't born evil. Hitler thought what he was doing was good for his own people. Nowhere in the quote on TMZ does Will Smith say anything on the lines of Hitler being a good person or that what he did was right. How is he wrong for saying that Hitler had a disturbed way of thinking?

Maybe I'm wrong though.

I took it as him saying that Hitler had a screwed up view of what was okay and not okay. Not that he was a good person while gassing jews. More a long the lines of he was a good person who's mentality ended up being warped. Some people believe everyone is born as a good person and can end up bad.

I agree his comment was dumb and he should have thought a bit more but to boycott his movie and ask Barack Obama, someone who had NOTHING to do with it, to go after him is absurd. Why even ask Obama? Cuz he's black? Why not ask Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton both don't do anything but run around when race issues pop up. Barack Obama actually has things to do.

The quote was preceded by the writer's observation: "Remarkably, Will believes everyone is basically good."
